The Great Debate..Doc throws down the Challenge
There is nothing so annoying as to have two people go right on talking when you’re interrupting
-Mark Twain
Kia ora tatou:
As most of you know, I am a digital guy now. My friend, Doc Ross, is a fine artist and film guy (that makes two of them I know). Recently we faced off across the debating table at the PSNZ Southern Regional Convention, arguing our sides of the moot: that digital is dancing on the grave of film. Debating is great fun; you take a point of view and argue it, no matter what you may believe. As Jill Ruckelhaus said, ” The best way to win an argument is to begin by being right.”
Naturally our side won…
But Doc has slapped me with the gauntlet. This morning a roll of AgfaChrome RS 1000 arrived. I have a week
or so to use it, then I must produce an image or 6, to be shown on a film projector.
Gulp.
I headed down to the other end of the house, rummaged around in the safe and dug out my Canon EOS 1v, replaced the batteries, and remembered ( just) how to load it..
I know he won’t believe I can get a film into a camera, that I will reach for a hammer and try to get it into the slot of my IDs III,so here is the proof, Doc.
The sad thing is I really love that camera. The embarrassing thing is, I am really looking forward to shooting film again…if I can work out where the LCD has gone…

You shouldn’t use a hammer, Tony. Use a screwdriver to enlarge the card slot, then you won’t have to use so much force to insert the film.
Another tip — there are plenty of old digicams being sold for pocket money on trademe. Get one, lever off the LCD (with your multi-function screwdriver) and glue it onto the back of your 1v. It’ll work every bit as well as what’s currently there.
You can buy me a beer sometime. Cheers :^)

Ah, Tony - given that it is slide film - you won’t even have to try and process it in the lightroom - now that you no longer have a dark room! Soemone else will do it for you - but that will cost YOU money - but not time!!!! And how much bracketting will you do? For composition and / or exposures! What fun!
I think that debate stirred a lot of people - and hybrids might still be the way to go - when there is time
cheers

Pete:
many thanks for the advice-NOT! BTW, how did you know I owned a multi-function screwdriver??? The issue for me will be to avoid chimping snd feeling a right Richard!
BB: Yes, I will have to get it processed, and look forward to the anticipation of wondering if it comes out…Ouch! Yes, and bracketing…Hmmmm
Y’ll think I should publish my debate and risk the ire of the 3 remaining Morris Dancers in the world? Apart from Fleur?
